Our Showcase

Our
Story

My name is Dar, and before losing my sight on January 10, 1995, I had 20/20 vision. I am always deeply artistic. I wrote my first novel in Grade 8 (a 364-page story that everyone loved), painted all the NHL emblems on my bedroom wall, and loved drawing and creating things with my hands. When I lost my vision, I thought my artistic journey had come to an end. But I was wrong. Instead of giving up, I adapted and overcame.

I found new ways to be creative, proving to myself that blindness would not define what I could or could not do. My passion for creating remained strong, and I discovered that art and design are not just about sight—they are about imagination, touch, and the ability to bring something meaningful to life.

About Us.

Our designs are tactile, unique, and made for everyone—blind, deafblind, partially sighted, and sighted alike. From beautifully crafted beaded pens and keychains to themed collections like Valentine’s Day, Autism Awareness, Christmas, nature, and more, every piece is made with inclusive intentions in mind. Our pens and keychains are completely tactile, featuring focal beads that allow you to select what resonates with you. We also offer braille descriptions of each design upon request.

Many people ask, “Why would a blind person want a pen?”. The answer is simple—it’s for signing documents, practicing signatures, or gifting to others. Everyone deserves access to stylish, functional, and meaningful accessories. Our keychains can be attached to keyrings, backpacks, dog leashes, or even guide dog harnesses—because who says practical can’t also be beautiful and fun?

Dartistic Creations was born out of both passion and necessity. As a blind entrepreneur, I was deemed “unemployable” due to my disability, but I refused to accept that. Instead, I created my own business to showcase my creativity, challenge perceptions, and craft accessible, tactile designs for everyone.

My son, Bradly, plays a huge role in this journey. Growing up with both parents being blind, he has always been an incredible support. He helps organize our work, gives feedback on designs, and ensures everything looks just right. His vision, both literally and figuratively, helps bring our creations to life in a way that is inclusive and meaningful.
